Founded in 1958, Zhengzhou Research Institute for Abrasives & Grinding is the unique comprehensive R & D unit for the abrasive industry in China . It was the first grade research institute of the ex-machinery ministry and in 1999 it became one of the daughter companies of SinoMach Group and awarded hi-tech enterprise combining R & D,production, marketing and service.
    In nearly 50 years it has developed and achieved more than 1100 research results, among which, 130 items have won national or provincial rewards and over 550 items have been promoted and applied all over the country. In 1963 the first grain of Chinese diamond was made here. After that, a great variety of superhard abrasive products have been developed the first time in China, namely CBN crystal, polycrystalline diamond, diamond and CBN tools, etc. In 1998, the National Superhard Materials & Products Engineering Research Center was established in the institute showing its leading position in the field of superabrasives and tools in China.
     In recent years, 9 achievements of the institute reached the advanced international level and won ministrial and provincial science and technology progress rewards, including "overall technology for hi-precision super-thin and superhard material grinding tools" and "high efficiency vitrified CBN grinding tools for processing autobobile key parts". 4 products (high precision super-thin cutting wheel and vitrified CBN high speed grinding wheel) won the reward of national key and new products.
     The national abrasives and grinding tools QC supervision and inspection center is based on the institute. The national standardization tech commission of abrasives and grinding, the association of superhard materials and the editorial office of the magazine of "Diamond and Abrasives and Grinding Engineering" are all located here. Therefore great contribution was made to the industry tech progress and to our national economy development in the past 49 years.
